Colts Offseason
Dec 29th, 2008 | By Robby | Category: Colts, Featured articlesWhat should the Colts do in this offseason? In my opinion I think they have a few issues to work on. I think if the Colts would have had any kind of running game this year they could have gone all the way.
So first and most important (IMO), they need a new running back. I think they should let Adai go, or at least move him to a back up’s back up. I don’t think he has any business even playing in the NFL. He always seems to run right into a pile of people. He doesn’t plant and cut to the outside or anything. Maybe some of the problem is the O-line but he should still be able to break for a big one here and there. He just doesn’t ever seem to get any big plays. He doesn’t do too badly as a receiver but I don’t think he needs to be our starting RB.
In addition to the new RB, we need a bigger O-line. I like Jeff Saturday but he is a little too small. I know he and Peyton have a connection but he just seems to get pushed around too much. Towards the end of the season, and in the playoff game, I seen the defenses just push him down. I think the Colts management should work more on having some bigger players on our O-line and our defensive line. I know they like fast guys, but there are some positions that need big guys. The outsides of the O-line and the D-line, yes, fast guys, but they need bigger guys in the middle.
Marvin, we love you man, but I think your time may be up. Colts spend a lot of money on the marvelous one and not getting enough out of him. He does not seem to be that fast anymore; also he seems to be worried about taking a big hit. I noticed a few times this season when he could have made a big play but he looked away for a second to make sure he wasn’t going to take a big hit. I think they should let him go, if he doesn’t on his own, and use the money on a new RB. I hear Jones-Drew may be available this year.
I think we will see Tony leaving us this year. Tony has worked miracles for the Colts. I will hate to see him leave but I think a new coach with a new play book could help out. I think the NFL teams have got used to the plays we run. The defense scheme that everybody uses now, is working out for us but the offensive plays have to have some changes. For years now teams have had to focus on the Colts, studying them and preparing for them. After all, there are some good teams that have not been able to make it far because they get knocked out by the Colts.
I would really love to see the Colts pick up Maurice Jones-Drew if he is really going to be let go by the Jags. After all, look what he has done to us in the past years. Colts have not had any kind of running game since Edge left. Maurice is small, fast and strong and would be an excellent addition to any team.
I guess we will have to wait and see what the off season brings. Hopefully we can do well in the draft and make the necessary adjustments to the running game, O-line and the Defense.
