Tony Dungy Retires
It was an emotional day in Indianapolis at the Colts complex and on television sets across the state of Indiana as head coach Tony Dungy, of the Indianapolis Colts, announced his retirement.
Tony has been the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts for 7 years. Tony has accomplished a lot during his career in Indianapolis bringing the city of Indianapolis its first Super Bowl championship since the team left Baltimore in 1984. With a 92-33 record, coach Dungy has taken the Colts to 7 straight playoffs and led his team to 5 AFC South division titles, 1 AFC conference championship and 1 Super Bowl championship. Tony has also set a franchise record as the winningest coach in Indianapolis Colts history
Below is a small list of accomplishments that Tony has accomplished in his 31 year career in the NFL.
- 12+ wins per season in 6 consecutive seasons.
- 10 Consecutive playoff appearances (including his time in Tampa)
- First African-American to win a Super Bowl as a head coach.
- The 3rd person to win a Super Bowl as both a player and a head coach.
Tony, known for his efforts off and on the field, will definitely be missed by the fans and the players in Indianapolis.
Colts new Coach
Indianapolis has name Jim Caldwell as the new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Caldwell has been with the Colts since 2002 and was named the Colts associate head coach last January. Jim Caldwell is now the Colts 17th head coach in franchise history.
