Health insurance is a policy or a document that gives assurance of paying our medical bills. It has become the most important expense for any individual or group of people. If premium is paid for health insurance in a given year then it will cover the expenses you will make on your treatment. Taking a health insurance is like keeping a fixed amount from the income separate for any unforeseen ailment that might take place.

Health insurance is an agreement between the insurer and the insured where on payment of premium by the insured, insurer agrees to settle the medical bills during the agreed period of time. The health insurance is renewed every year and the premium can be paid either annually as a onetime payment or in installments which can be either monthly or annually.

There are various types of health insurance plans available in the market. They are even customized depending on the individual need. Certain health insurance policies are made to cover specific ailments like cancer, heart disease, tuberculosis etc. There are special health insurance plans even for women. A person can take individual health insurance for different ailments.

At times health insurance is considered to be more important than the life insurance since it helps you to meet your medical expenses and make your life comfortable. It reduces the burden of any long term or short term medical problem that you might suffer from.

The health insurance is provided either by the government or by the private health insurance companies. Various health insurance companies are AIG, Prudential, American family insurance, regence group and many more. The health insurance can cover an individual or his entire family depending on the type of plan taken.

Comprehensive health insurance is more expensive when compared with scheduled health insurance because it covers more risk and provide more benefits. Whereas, scheduled health insurance is made to cover the daily expense of going to the doctor and do not over much risk. No matter how huge the cost difference is between the two a comprehensive health insurance cannot be replaced by anything.

The health insurance model followed by France is considered the best by the world health organization since it assures high quality of care and provides total freedom to the patient.
